Christmas 2007

Image
This Christmas was so incredibly wonderful! We started out by going to the Las Vegas Bowl on Saturday with my little brother and sister. BYU barely pulled off a 17 to 16 win by blocking a field goal with 3 seconds left in the game - it was so exciting! While we were in Vegas we ate at a buffet and a cafe in The Paris Hotel-gotta love Vegas food. We also helped David's sister Sara and her husband when they realized that the auto shop had not replaced their oil cap when they filled it up, so they had lost all of their oil. We randomly called them to stop for lunch with us in Vegas on their way out to California, and had they not stopped, they wouldn't have known and the engine would have seized up out in the middle of nowhere. So - it was VERY lucky that they stopped and also that we were able to go pick up oil and a new cap for them, it was also lucky that we made it to kick off on time after helping them. :-) Both of our mothers were in charge of the Christmas programs in their...

One Week Away!!!

Image
I'm so excited for Christmas - and it's only one week from today! We've had our tree for a couple of weeks - but I just barely took a picture of it. This last weekend we went to a fun Couples Christmas Party at Kyle and Rebecca Laws' home. Rebecca made lots of homemade sweets and we played some fun games together - in one of the games I won a key chain and David won a pair of earrings - we switched of course. :-)

Intramural Champion

Image
David has been wanting to win an intramural tournament for all of his years at BYU. He sets up a football team every fall and winter semester, plays on a softball team during the spring and summer semesters, and organizes his favorite -a basketball team - during winter semester. Last year he came SO close with his basketball team making it to the final 4 out of more than 200 teams before they lost. Ironically, this semester he decided to play on our ward's ultimate frisbee team for fun - and that is how he became an intramural champion!

First Snow

Image
This past weekend, it snowed for the first time this Holiday Season. It was so beautiful, but quite scary to drive in. We spent Saturday afternoon through Sunday afternoon at the Peterson home so that we could watch the BYU game on a big TV. We took a family picture for their Christmas card, and although it turned out great with the snowy mountains in the back, we had to stand out in the middle of the snow-covered deck for a while posing for the self-timer on the camera. It was pretty freezing! We also went up to the Christmas Devotional on Sunday evening with the Dayton family. It was so wonderful and Christmas-y!!!

Thanksgiving Break

Chrissy, Jessie, Becky, Chris & Sara, Marie, David & Heather, Benjy, Cindy On Thanksgiving Day, David got up early and went to play football with some of his family and friends. After the first hour of boring two-hand touch, some of the guys left, and the remaining few played tackle against some juveniles from Discovery Academy - they had a blast playing tackle against these teenagers (some of whom were quite large.) We went to the Dayton home around 12:30pm, took some family pictures, and then headed to his aunt and uncle's home in Orem. We had hors d'oeuvres, sang songs, and then ate a huge meal. After dinner, there was a pool competition-David was paired up with his cousin, Barbara, and they did awesome until we had to go so we could see my family for a bit. Before we left the Dayton's we had some dessert, which was definitely scrumptious. :-) Benjy and Marie vs. David and Barbara What a cutie in his argyle sweater!!! At my family's house, we mainly just...

An Interesting Evening

Image
Last Thursday night, David and I went up to SLC to watch his sister Becky in 'Savior of the World.' We went with his sister, Chrissy, and met his other sister and husband, Chris & Sara, there. It was a nice performance and we went to a french bakery afterwards to get a treat. :-) As we pulled into the Dayton's driveway around 11:30pm that night, we noticed an extremely strong and unnatural smell. I immediately noticed that the storage doors at the back of their carport had black streaks up them. We assumed there was a gas leak or fire, so we jumped out of the car and David rang the doorbell a bunch to get his mom and two sisters out. When his sister Marie answered the door she was pretty annoyed until he told her what was going on. He ran in and got his sister Jessie out of bed and his mom ran out in her pajamas and slippers. Soon, the street was flooded with police cars, a fire truck, and quite a few neighbors. We sat in the car for about 40 minutes while they put out ...

Okay - 6 interesting facts about me... 1. My favorite foods: drink-milk, fruit-apples (preferably gala), meat-chicken, side dish-mashed potatoes & gravy, vegetable-spinach (but it has to be fresh-not all wilted like when it is cooked), meal my husband makes-it's a tie between steak stroganoff and hamburgers. 2. I LOVE getting my nails done. I only do it for dance competitions because it is expensi ve and makes it hard to type, but I absolutely love it. I've had my toes done twice as well. If we ever have extra money - I think that I will have them done a little more often. :-) 3. In my 9th grade yearbook, they asked a few of us what we wanted to do by the time we were 20 years old. Most people said crazy adventurous things, but I simply stated, "I want to be married." AND - I did just that. I got married exactly a month after I turned 20, but not because I was trying to fulfill my silly 9th grade statement - that just happened to be when my perfect match showed u...

Group Date

Image
After the dance competition on Friday night, we went out to celebrate our friend Adam's birthday. It was fun - we went to Chili's around 11:00pm and were there until after midnight. I felt like I was single again! :-) It was nice to go on a big group date for a change. Jill (& 19week old baby), Josh, Kevin, Giovanna, Adam, Jeanne, Us

Terrible Toothache

Image
The Friday before last, David came bursting through our front door after watching the BYU basketball game. He ran straight for the medicine cabinet and downed four ibuprofen. This was the first sign to me that he was in a lot of pain because I can NEVER get him to take any medicine for anything. He was up all night with a terrible toothache, and the next day we went to the dentist. They had him on percocet to take away the pain for the weekend, and he even missed a BYU football game. He had a partial root canal on Monday, and the full one on Tuesday. I got to watch - it was crazy, his entire tooth was hollowed out!!! Anyway - he felt much better afterwards, and he still has a strong aversion to dentists. You can tell how much he enjoyed this experience by the excitement on his face. :-)

2007 Events

Image
Since I didn't start this blog very long ago, I just wanted to post a few of the things that we've been up to this past year. This was mainly inspired by the fact that this weekend is the BYU Dancesport competition, and for the first time ever we won't be competing - just watching. :-( We just haven't had any time to practice this semester because David studied a TON for the LSAT, and then we've been applying to a bunch of law schools - and that has literally taken up almost all extra time outside of work. However, we do have a bunch of new standard choreography and we hope to be competing together again shortly! Dancing Pre-Championship Standard together, with me wearing my new black dress. (Well, it was new then!) Sorry about the studio name printed across it - we were too poor to actually buy any of their pictures. :-) Other Events (Listed from the oldest to the most recent): David's family owns horses, and there were two colts born this spring - soooo adora...

Psychedelic Mushrooms

Image
Yesterday evening when we were walking out of the side door of the Health Center after work, we noticed a large mushroom patch in the very back of the Health Center's lawn. We ran out there to take a closer look, and the mushrooms were all pretty huge! Our theory is that it is probably the pharmacist's extra little stash...haha! Stephanie & Emily checking out the mysterious mushrooms. :)

Babysitting Cute Cousins

Image
Last Friday afternoon and evening, we babysat David's cousin's two adorable children, Kylee and Jack. We took them to David's intramural ultimate frisbee game and they were so cute - they stood on the side lines clapping and yelling, "Go Dave!" Kylee started imitating David from the sidelines while he was standing there waiting for the second half to start - he had his hands on his hips, so she put her hands on hers. I called out to him to look at her and they started a cute game of copycat. Jack was so attentive - he kept saying, "Dave got it", and "David threw it." When their parents got home and we left for the evening, they gave us hugs and kisses and said thank you. They are so cute, and it was such an enjoyable Friday evening!

Happy Day!!!

Image
These past few days have been really stressful for us. David got an e-mail that we thought was going to have his September LSAT score in it on Friday of last week. After a prayer, we nervously opened the e-mail to find out that there was some kind of issue with his account, so we would have to check the website for the score. We don't have the internet at our apartment (just e-mail on my phone), so we drove to David's work to get on-line. We went through the whole nervous process again as we logged on, only to be informed that there was a hold on his record and he would not be able to get his score until it was resolved. Apparently, he had applied to have his fee waived and it had been denied - so even though he ALREADY paid for it - we couldn't get the score until we could call them during regular business hours (Monday morning) and get it cleared up. So - the whole weekend was stressful with anticipation (especially because a bunch of guys in our ward had taken it and the...
