2007 Events

Since I didn't start this blog very long ago, I just wanted to post a few of the things that we've been up to this past year. This was mainly inspired by the fact that this weekend is the BYU Dancesport competition, and for the first time ever we won't be competing - just watching. :-( We just haven't had any time to practice this semester because David studied a TON for the LSAT, and then we've been applying to a bunch of law schools - and that has literally taken up almost all extra time outside of work. However, we do have a bunch of new standard choreography and we hope to be competing together again shortly!

Dancing Pre-Championship Standard together, with me wearing my new black dress. (Well, it was new then!) Sorry about the studio name printed across it - we were too poor to actually buy any of their pictures. :-)

Other Events (Listed from the oldest to the most recent):

David's family owns horses, and there were two colts born this spring - soooo adorable!

We both had birthdays (obviously), but I only had a picure of mine. I turned 22 in April, and David turned 24 in May. We also had our 2 year anniversary in May - and I don't have pictures of that either. But for my birthday, David got me this portable DVD player and Season One of Law and Order for our long drives to L.A. for dance lessons. It definitely came in handy.

We sold my first car this April, it was also our only car thus far in our marriage. Now we have a newer Honda, and David has a cute little red Toyota pick-up that we bought in September for $300 and then paid to have a new clutch put in. Amazing deal, assuming it runs for a few months!

I graduated this year, and I was lucky enough to get to sit by two of David's cousins during convocation, Lisa and Barbara. Every 24th of July weekend, David's 'Dayton' side of the family gathers in Cokeville, Wyoming for a reunion of sorts. Uncle Tom always comes and gives a family fireside, and we all eat a big dinner, play games, talk, and watch the parade. This year we decided to stay at the hotel - and this HUGE animal was staring over our bed! I was so terrified, I couldn't stay alone in the room while David went and played basketball with his cousins, so I stayed with my mother-in-law in her room. We had to cover the face with David's clothes so that I could sleep in there. :-)We went on a romantic evening date up to Park City. We rode the scenic overlook ride (AKA the ski lift), and ate dinner at an amazing restaurant. I had the most delicious filet mignon. This fall, David pitched for a city league softball team that he and some buddies played on. He was by FAR the best pitcher in their league.

In September, we hosted two delegates from Kyrgystan for an entire week. They did not speak English, only Russian - so it was a challenge - but a very good experience. This is the night that we had dinner and FHE at the Dayton's house. Both of David's brother-in-laws also served in Russia, so one of them came to help keep the conversation going. The Kyrgystanians are the one in the back in the red (Marsbek), and our favorite on in the blue behind David (Ulugbek.)

Seeing those dance pictures made me miss those fun times at work when you would show us your routines. good luck with Law schools, I promise that taking the LSAT, waiting for replies, making a decision is the worst part of the experience. Miss you.
