Random Weekend in Vegas
So last Friday David called me at work around 12:30 in the afternoon and said that he wanted to go to the BYU vs. UNLV game in Las Vegas. He wanted to leave after work and said that he'd arrange everything. I had to work until 6pm, so I said okay and hoped he could figure it all out by then. Sure enough, when he picked me up from work he had reserved a hotel, bought tickets, and called our friends, Adam & Jeanne Shelton, to come with us. We got to our hotel around 11pm Vegas time (after driving to the wrong hotel first because David thought he was reserving one that we stayed in before...apparently he got the names mixed up!)
We checked in and soon I began to notice strange things in our room. The first was that the ice bucket was in the shower, then I noticed that there were towels hung in the closet on hangers, and when I saw that the soap was already opened David finally got annoyed and called the front desk - apparently our room had not been fully cleaned, so they said they would give us a new one. That was great except that we had to stand out in the smoky hallway for 20 minutes with our luggage while waiting to be relocated. After getting comfortable and changing clothes, we decided to go bowling. So, the two of us married LDS couples were out until after 2am Vegas time (so 3am for us) in an age 21 and older bowling alley that was serving alcohol and sporting fights involving quite a few policeman and a crowd of angry drunks. It was quite entertaining!
The next morning, we went to the Paris Buffet - it was amazing and totally worth the hour waiting in line. After our brunch we went back to the hotel and packed up and then went to the pool in the 82 degree weather-sooo nice! Then we went to the factory outlet mall before heading to the game. The game was tons of fun - and of course, BYU won. I even heard that 60% of the fans there were from BYU - way to represent! We drove to St. George on Saturday night and stayed with David's uncle and then went to church with him there before driving home to Provo. What a crazy, tiring, but fun-filled weekend!
