THE DAYTON FAMILY

Taylor is soooo adorable and I absolutely love being able to be his mom! I am feeling relatively well considering I had a baby less than 5 days ago. I'm mainly just tired because he thinks that night time is daytime and because I can't stop holding and looking at him. David and I can't even begin to express in words the love that we feel for our precious little boy. Here are a few more pictures: *Some of the things he LOVES: being swaddled, (he likes it really tight and he looks like a little burrito-haha!) laying on one of our chests and listening to the heartbeat, and having his hair washed - he cooed the whole time! *Some of the things he doesn't like: diaper changes, not having all of his clothes on, and sleeping in his little crib - he much prefers sleeping on a person :)

David 'Taylor' Dayton III joined our family on Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at 5:06 pm. He weighed in at 8lbs 1oz and 19 inches long - I can't believe that big of a baby was in me! The labor & delivery went really well considering what we women go through to bring these sweet little spirits into the world. He was very awake and alert for the first hour while we just got to hold and feed him. He kept staring around with his huge, bright eyes in wonder and amazement at the new world around him. It took a long time for them to get him back to me once I was in the room because there were LOTS of babies born at UVRMC this week. David got to got with him though while they gave him a sponge bath and all of that fun stuff. We just got home this afternoon and are loving every single moment with our sweet little son - we just can't stop staring at him!

David always jokes around about how we aren't real grown-ups yet, and it's really hit me that within the next few days as we become parents we will face a lot of new and much more grown-up responsibilities. We are so excited to be parents and know that creating families is one of the most important things for us to do; however, I can't help feeling a little bit sad that we'll be leaving behind the relatively care-free lifestyle that we've been living with just the two of us. David and I have had a wonderful time living our newly-wed, child-free life for the past 3+ years of married life. Here are some of our good memories:

David was pretty sad that Taylor wasn't born on Father's Day - he really wanted that for a present, but Taylor just wasn't having it! I got him some new basketball shoes instead...I think that helped ease the pain of having to wait a little bit longer to hold his first son. :) We went up to SJ for the weekend. David made sure that my family (besides hugely pregnant me of course...) played lots of games together on Saturday: David with my brothers. Instructions for Ultimate Frisbee. Nice catch Mom! My dad got a new croquet set for Father's Day - we had to try it out. :) We made a yummy chicken fettucine alfredo dinner too.

As is obvious from the picture: I'M HUGE!!! I am due in just under 2 weeks and I swear I've doubled in size during the last 2...so I better not have to wait 2 more to have him or I may explode!

Last week we cleared all of our school supplies and random other things out of the spare bedroom so that we could put all of the baby stuff away. It is kind of sad because we will be moving mid-August, so he won't live in there for long. That's okay though because we didn't want to put the crib together just to take it down, and the dresser/changing table that we want (the one that matches the crib) is back-ordered, so we can't get it now anyway. So - we are using our desk as a changing table, a Pack-N-Play for his crib, and then just a regular dresser for all of his cute little clothes and stuff. Plus, the room also has a book shelf and a bunk bed in it, so it's pretty packed. It's not an adorable little nursery, but it's exciting to have everything all ready for him and smelling like clean baby detergent! *** Here's a picture of the organization process, and then after we got everything all cleaned, set-up, and put away (They're taken from two diff...

My brother graduated from High School this week and I went to the very LONG ceremony - his class had about 800 students graduating - so it took about an hour and a half just for them to read the names of the graduates. Thomas sang in the choir that did a couple of numbers - they sounded really good. I saw this picture of me and am in shock by how massively pregnant I look! I guess that since I am due in about 3 weeks that I should be okay with it :) Here's the side view of my pregnancy progression.
