Timp Caves

Image
This past weekend was fun. We went on a double date with my sister and Ian on Friday - out to Mimi's Cafe and then to the new Indiana Jones movie. Then on Saturday we went up to the Utah Symphony and then visited with David's grandma, Aunt Barbara, and Uncle Tom. Sunday was our first day in our new ward (they just changed our ward boundaries) and we had church at 9am - yay!!! On Memorial Day, I really wanted to go hiking but it was raining off and on so we were worried that the trails would be muddy. I've been wanting to hike up to Timpanogas Caves for a while, so we decided to call and see if they were still open since the trail is paved. They sure were, so I hiked the whole thing at more than 8 months pregnant - YEAH! I didn't even go into labor from it...at least not yet :) *** Here's a few pictures from the hike and the BBQ we had afterwards: PREGNANCY UPDATE: I had an appointment today and I am 1.5 cm dialated and 25% effaced - which is supposed to be perfect ...

Peterson Shower

My sisters had a baby shower for me in SJ on Saturday. It was fun - I had a few aunts and a cousin there, some high school friends, and a couple of friends that have moved up to the SLC area from our old ward in Price. *** My grandma was also able to come down, which was a complete miracle. She hasn't been out for several months since her brain tumor has gotten so bad. We were all very excited that she was able to make it. She really likes to get to family things, and is hoping to in the next few months while she is still relatively well. I forgot to have my mom get the camera out until near the end when some people had already left...sad. After the shower, my Aunt Judy went down to find her son who David had taken to play with. We found them like this...it was sooo adorable! Our stroller and carseat had also been delivered to my parents' home - so David set it all up on Sunday night. It is finally starting to feel like we'll actually be ready for our little guy in a few w...

A Quarter of a Century

Image
David had a very important birthday last week - he turned 25...I can't believe that he has been around for a quarter of a century already! Anyway, he didn't have a very good birthday. He flew out to visit the University of Michigan Law school on Tuesday and was supposed to fly back on Wednesday night, but his first flight was delayed and he missed his connecting flight. So - he spent Wednesday night in a hotel and got back home around noon on his birthday. That would have been fine except he was supposed to drive to Nevada for work that day and they had planning to leave around 4:00am - so he left around 1:30pm instead and had to spend the night there and didn't get back until Friday after 4:00pm. I saw him on my lunch break for about 20 minutes when he ran in the house, opened a few presents that I'd left out, had some lunch, and grabbed his bag that I'd packed for his trip to Nevada. So he basically spent his birthday traveling/working and spent the night alone ...

32 Weeks Down, 8 More to Go!

Image
David was already gone this morning, so I had to take this picture myself...thank goodness for timers! I am 80% through the pregnancy and getting extremely excited to have our little boy here. We have 8 weeks left until his due date. *** Here's a few pics from this past week: David made a "super-healthy" chili-cheese dog...it looked soooo yummy, but I was good and didn't eat any. :) We went to SJ on my mom's B-day. Here is my family all on one side of the living room... ...And David ostracized on the other side...haha! My brother soon joined him - I guess boys like to be squished. (I told David to do a normal face for once in this picture - he WAS glaring cynically - so this is as normal as he gets :)

My 23rd B-Day

Image
I turned 23 last week, so this post is a little late, but I had a great birthday thanks to my wonderful husband, family, and in-laws. *** My birthday was on a Sunday and we don't have church until 1, so I got to sleep in and then David made me a lovely breakfast of bacon and french toast with whipped cream and strawberries. It was delicious! After church, we went up to SJ to see my family. My mother made a fabulous dinner - chicken cordon bleu, mashed potatoes, spinach salad, fresh strawberries, homemade rolls...all of my favorites! (And luckily I didn't know about the 'borderline' gestational diabetes yet - so I could eat all of it!) Then we opened presents - my main present from my mom was the stroller/carseat for baby Taylor-yay! The boys got tired and fell asleep after the whole 5 minutes of unwrapping presents. :) Then we had some cheesecake - also one of my favorites. I always have cheesecake on my birthday because I don't really love cake that much, and my si...

Our "visit" to Labor & Delivery

Image
So, I've had the braxton hicks contractions for a while now, but they have always been random and really spaced apart. This last weekend on Friday night, I laid down on the couch and started noticing that I was having them really frequently. I didn't really think it was that big of a deal and figured they'd go away after I'd relaxed for a while. Well, they were still going when I woke up on Saturday morning. I had a fairly easy day and wasn't doing any major physical activity, so by evening when they were still going and I really started aching in my stomach and hurting in my lower back I got kind of worried. I laid down for a while and we timed them and they were literally four minutes apart. I really didn't want to call the OB after-hours line because I felt like I was probably just being paranoid, but David made me. :) The doctor called me back immediately and told me that if they were closer than 10 minutes apart that I should definitely go in to Labor &...

A Good Day

Image
Yesterday was a good day. I went to lunch with my friends from work, several of them have already left the Health Center, so it was fun to catch up with them. We are all going in different directions soon - it is fun to move on with life, but sad to leave friends. After work, David and I went and visited his cousin, Lisa, and her husband, Adam, and their brand-new 6 day-old baby boy, Steven. He was absolutely adorable! It makes me soooo incredibly excited to have Taylor here in just 10 weeks. We can't wait to be parents!
