Christmas in Germany

I am definitely going to put up a post with more details of our Europe travels, but here are some fun Christmas Celebrations we had while visiting Ian & Bonnie in Henschtal this December.
We visited lots of Christmas Markets during our stay, but this was our first one the day after we arrived. It is in Trier. We had delicious Bratwurst and Potatoes & Mushrooms. We also toured the Roman Church you can see behind us that was such a neat backdrop for the Christmas Market.
This is another Christmas Market we visited while in Luasanne, Switzerland while visiting David's cousin Kirsten and her family. (Pictures with them coming soon!)
Taylor loving his Santa Claus Teddy Bear that a lady gave to him (and a matching one to cousin Trevyn) in the Christmas Market. Taylor learned how to say 'Ho Ho Ho' this Christmas - it is hilarious...it comes out very forced and from deep down, kind of like, "ooh ooh ooh" haha!
This is what Ian & Bonnie's backyard looked like for most of our visit. It was definitely a white Christmas Season there!
Of course we had to do our traditional cookie decorating.
Bonnie & Ian's cookies were pretty fancy!
Tay spent lots of time playing in the area beneath the tree in the living room. This is one of my favorite pictures that Bonnie captured of him. Totally my child - loves to read!
We all helped prepare our Christmas Eve feast!
Delicious ham, garlic potatoes, homemade rolls, beans, shrimp cocktail, & Martinelli's.
It is a German tradition to light the candles on the tree on Christmas Eve, so we did just that. It was so beautiful. Afterwards we had a contest blowing them out. I think Ian won. Taylor loved it!
Christmas morning before checking out the tree.
Our spread of presents and our awesome stockings - Ian's green work socks! :)
Taylor enjoyed helping everyone open their presents and got very excited no matter what it was. It was very fun to watch.
I got a lovely new scarf and hat from David, which I used a ton on the rest of our cold Europe travels. :)
Taylor opening a present.
The 5 of us all together Christmas Day.

We had a fabulous time in Germany and the best part was getting to spend Christmas with Ian & Bonnie. It was such a fun experience - definitely a Christmas that we will never forget!
