Marie's Wedding

Marie Dayton Purcell and Tiafau Purcell

Because I missed reading posts about what is going on with our family, and since Heather is busy, I (David) have decided to post. I don't know if I will enjoy reading my own post as much as I like reading Heather's, but chances are I will (although I may be less surprised by what is written).

Aren't weddings great?

I really like going to weddings, especially when they are close family members getting married. One of the things that I enjoy most about weddings (besides the luncheon, getting to see family we haven't seen in a while, the reception (with food), getting rid of another sister, gaining another brother-in-law) is being able to think about my own wedding/marriage. It is incredible that it has been almost 4 1/2 years since we got married (and even more amazing that Heather is still married to me). A lot of people talk about how grateful they are for their wives or how supportive their wife is. I don't think that anyone is better or more supportive of their spouse than Heather is of me. One week this past month, I had a 3-on-3 game on Tuesday (then went and played basketball at the church until late), an ultimate frisbee game on Wednesday (then played basketball at the church until late), Thursday I had a city-league Basketball game, and a flag football game on Friday. How many wives would have been okay with that? (the discussion of having a selfish spouse or a husband who focuses too much time on sports can be made later by Heather)

Back to weddings. Growing up, whenever weddings would be discussed (which was relatively often with 5 girls), or whenever Marie would talk about her being a mom/wife someday. I would look at her seriously and tell her that I didn't think the chances were very good of her getting married. I really enjoyed that joke, so I was a little bit dissapointed when she got engaged. However, we are really happy for her, and enjoyed her wedding immensely.

Taylor is obsessed with balls. His favorite word is ball and he will repeat it over, and over, and over. (bah, bah, bah, bah etc.) At the reception, he was so tired that he could barely crawl. Despite his fatigue, he threw his ball then crawled in between tables, chairs, and people all night until he threw up because he was so tired. I wonder where he gets that obsession (see para. 1).

There is much debate about who Taylor likes the best. It is clear that Heather is number 1 and I am number 2 (the separation between number 1 and 2 is huge, but someone has to be number 2), but between our extended families the debate is much closer. Heather's mom is probably number 3, but Taylor loves Uncle Benjy (number 4?) and really likes it when he's with him. (Not that we would ever rate relationships, I am sure he loves everyone the same.)

Picture with my siblings and Mom.

One of the best parts about my siblings getting married are the fun neices and nephews that have started appearing.

Fun update. That's crazy you have been married that long! I want to see you guys. I left a message for Heather, but in case you get this first, just know that I want to see you. Christopher needs to start playing with Taylor. Right now he just hangs out with girls his age.
